St. Charles Photographer: What a dad!

So Jeff called me awhile back and had the idea to get some photographs of the beautiful ladies in his family for his wife's birthday. What a nice guy!!! He has been blessed with 2 daughters and 4 granddaughters...a whole lot of ladies! So finally we got together with his family and it was exactly what you would imagine with a bunch of girls all getting ready at one place-a lot of primping and time in front of the mirror. It paid off though :) All of the girls look gorgeous and I couldn't help posting my favorite of Jeff and his little pooch! I love this shot of him!

So thank s Jordan family for the chance to photograph you all together...and as usual thanks for the long wait for my blog post. Come January I should be caught up :)

Oh Facebook...you are such a bothersome nuissance...yet so addictive!

Yeah, Facebook has a bad rep, but being the positive person that I am (ha!) I think that I have had some pretty great experiences reconnecting with people that I have lost touch with over the years. Multiple times I have gotten messages from friends that I went to school with looking for someone to photograph their family, and it is so great to get to see them after all those years...and to meet their family!

So Rachel sent me a message saying that exact thing. What is even better, is that she didn't even know I was a photographer, but someone else we went to high school with told her to call me! (Thanks Kate!) So, through the complex web of Facebook, Rachel found me and we ended up getting to spend a beautiful afternoon with her family, taking some photographs and trying to keep up with her hilarious little boys.

I feel like this fall has been better than ever! The nice days outnumbered the bad days...and that really works out great for a photographer :) So this photo session was another beautiful fall day, and another great location! Perfect spot for some photos of a little boy, and what a handsome little guy. He has quite the look he gives...a little charmer!

I am always thrilled when a new family comes my way, so it really was a pleasure photographing Karina and her family. I especially love our U of I connection...the world is a small place. So thanks for the great afternoon and here are a few of my favorits among the vintage trains...

It feels good to be catching up and making my way down my long long list of To Do's.

So my favorite Canning family is next up..

They rock. Plain and simple. Nicest family and so much fun! Little Colbie has these sparkling blue eyes that are just so beautiful and is always dressed like such a fashionista.

So another year, another family portrait for them...and even though Colbie made us all work for every smile she gave, the final product makes it all worth while!!!

Amy planned such a great celebration for her mom's birthday! She planned a whole weekend of fun activities including a surprise visit from her mom's best girlfriends, a great dinner party, and the weekend concluded with a big birthday brunch that I showed up for to get some great shots of some special time with some very important friends and family!

So I have known the Lee family for awhile...whther it was at Geneva High School, kids baseball, or living down the street from each other, I can't even remember how we met! But let me tell you this family is fantastic (and their oldest son is my boys' idol)!

The best part about them is they are busy...just like my family, but this did not stop them from working in a family photo shoot. They had a soccer game right before the photo shoot and then when we finished, they headed out to another one.

We lucked out with another gorgeous day, so I was so happy that we made this work! Their boys are as handsome as can be (especially with Lucas' model posing!!) and their daughter...oh my! She is a cutie...but I had to act fast. She was not going to make it easy on me, but below is my favorite shot of her and she is smiling and as happy as can be!

So thanks Lee family for such a great photo shoot...and thanks for fitting me into your tight schedule :)

Geneva Photographer: The Little Lady in Charge

My oh my, this little cutie is going to be a pistol when she grows up. She has got this attitude that is wise beyond her years. She can't say much, but you sure can understand what she does and does not want to do! Don't get me wrong, this little lady was a DOLL to work with! It was a pleasure!

While editing through all of the cute photographs I took of her, I can't help but be grabbed by this little smile she gives the camera! The only word to really describe it is pretty :) She is one pretty girl and she sure is loved by her mom and dad!

Geneva Photographer: Some good smiles!

So this is going to be the first of many blogs I start working through. The busy season is in full swing and I could really use about 5 more hours a day to get through all the photographs that I need to edit! Is it really already November!!!???

I will say that even though I have fallen behind on my blogging, I am keeping up with all my editing and loving all of the wonderful families that I have gotten to work with during the past month!

So here is one of the first of many blogs to be posted over the next couple days (fingers crossed!!!).

This family was awesome! While we weren't to sure the quantity of smiles we would get...the quality of the ones we did get were great! I was so proud of both these great boys for working with me, giving me smiles...and hopefully making their mom and dad happy all the while :)

Geneva Wedding Photographer: Kevin & Carrie

I felt so lucky to be able to photograph Carrie & Kevin's wedding! I have known Carrie since we were very little. Our parent's were good friends and we all vacationed together and spent many of days playing school, bossing each other, and just being silly kids.

So when I had heard that Carrie got engaged, I was THRILLED when she contacted me to photograph her big day.

Carrie was the most gorgeous bride, so relaxed and ready to have fun...so it was a great day! Her new husband Kevin, was the same. He is such a great guy and was so fun to work with.

I am so happy for both of them...and even happier with how the photographs turned out!

Glen Ellyn Photographer: Enjoying the Trees

I know too well how quick kids grow up, but with these two kids it really does seem like time has flown by. I photographed Elsa for the first time at about 3 months old and Owen at newborn...look at them now! Wow! So big, so cute, and so fun! It had been a long time since I photographed Elsa, and it was so fun to see how she has grown up! She was ready to get her photograph taken too...lots of smiles, lots of creative ideas, the perfect little model :)

We spent the afternoon at the Arboretum taking in the beautiful tress, exploring and chasing squirrels, and I got to photograph all the fun. I got taken to some parts of the arboretum that I had never been too, and I was thrilled! It was a gorgeous day and I am glad I got to really see what makes the arboretum such an amazing place.

This is one of my favorite places to photograph! During the fall the bright red leaves are so beautiful...but darn they never last long enough! This family was the one lucky group that got to enjoy some of their photographs with those red leaves glowing around them. I was so glad that we got to enjoy some beautifully warm weather, golden sunshine and the last of those red leaves. So Jennifer enjoy some of my favorites of your great kiddos!

Maggie and John are the IT couple!

Maggie made the most beautiful bride and John was a strikingly handsome groom...and to think they told me when we first met that they are really unphotogenic...ha! They have to be kidding, right?! I find it hard to believe that they have ever taken a bad photograph in their life.

So the weather was up then down, rainy then sunny, but in the end it ended up being a gorgeous day with a lot of celebration to be had! I had a wonderful time getting to know John and Maggie and getting to know all of their friends and family.

It is always a hilarious experience to photograph my friends...and especially their kids! This family is a group that are my closest friends. It has been a friendship that has stretched nearly 20+ years (that is too big of a number!)!!! Within all those great years of friendship, we have had many great moments together...many of which will not be posted here, but my fondest moments were when Jessica and I were pregnant with both our children at the same time and in turn basically raised our kids together. I feel lucky to have seen their kids grow up and especially those moments with our first kids!

So it was a beautiful afternoon that we got to spend together, with me behind the camera catching funny laughs, quirky glances, and funny smiles. It was a great day!

Geneva Photographer: The Winner!

I was so excited that this family won a gift certificate to my studio! It was such perfect timing too...their twin daughters were just getting ready to turn one so we definitely had some celebrating to capture!

It was such an interesting day...not sure if you remember the wild fire that happened in Minnesota, but ironically our area in Illinois was affected. All day I wondered why everything smelled so smokey! Even at this photo shoot I was amazed at how the light seemed to really really be streaming through the trees and I could actually see the sun rays. So after I found out about the fire and started editing these photos I realized that the smoke from the fires really made the light so beautiful in these shots. I guess there was one perk to dealing with some smoggy air!

I thought that it was so sweet that these parents wanted to get portraits taken with only their youngest child (of four...all girls!!!) for her 1st birthday. What a nice way to spend a little time focused on just one child! I love it! This photo shoot was all about her, and that is how it should be on your 1st birthday!

I think she was loving having us all to herself...such a cutie!

I have a really lovely history with this family, and I was so happy to get the chance to photograph them again. I met Erica a few years ago at church. She was the pastor until her recent move to the city. The first time I photographed her family it was her amazing idea to capture some amazing moments with the four generations of women in her family: her mother, daughter, grandmother and herself.

After the passing of her grandmother earlier this year, I was felt so blessed to have been able to photograph her grandmother at a time when she felt great and looked beautiful! I know her whole family loved that they had some beautiful photographs to remember this incredible woman by! Also, what a wonderful thing to be able to pass down to her daughter.

So my newest experience photographing her family was inspired by her idea that she wanted to have family portraits taken in St. Charles and at the places where they spent the most time as a family...they wanted it as a memento since they were moving away.

So here are a few of my favorites that really show what a beautiful, fun, eclectic family they are! Thank you again Erica for allowing me to spend this time with you and your family!!

Batavia Photographer: 6 months sure flies by!

Whenever I am hired by a family to photograph their baby as a newborn, 6 months and then 1 year, I am always shocked when that time goes by and it is time for me to photograph the baby again! The difference that 6 months has on a baby is incredible!

This little girl had the same effect on me! She was so tiny as a newborn (as they all are) and had just a teensy bit of peach fuzz on her head. Now she has this beautiful red hair growing in...and she is a beauty! She has the kind of red hair we all wish for, not too red, not too blonde, not too brown...but a lovely combination that will for sure make her the envy of all her friends!

These parents sure make cute kids! Their son is pretty darn cute too...and he always has some good smiles ready for me!

St. Charles Photographer: My Favorite Twins Turn 2!

I have photographed this hilarious duo many times and was so excited to celebrate their 2nd birthday with them at the park...and with some whirly pops! These two were on the move and pretty much not wanting to stand still for any photos until I brought out my bribes. I handed them these whirly pops and didn't even take off the plastic (I didn't want to ruin their little outfits so soon!!)...and they were in HEAVEN! I have never seen anything like it. They bit right through the plastic and sucked out as much sugar as they could. It made for some adorable (and sticky) moments that I was so happy to capture!

So another year down and many many more happy years to come! Happy birthday girls!

This little cutie was not going to back down. She was not going to smile. The funniest part is her grumpy face is the cutest expression EVER. A little independence, a little bit of a pouty smirk, and every once in awhile eye contact with a grin!

She was not going to make it easy for me, but the shots I got of her are adorable and I can't wait for her mom to see them all! I am sure she will be thrilled!

This was such a sweet group to photograph! Alyssa wanted portraits of her daughter for her 1st birthday, but it just happened that her sister and nephew would also be in town from California at the same time. So I thought it would be great to photograph all of them together! I have a sister and I can't think of a moment we have been photographed together with our kids and I love the idea!

The day of our photo session happened to be one of the crazy hot days here in Chicagoland, but luckily we met early and worked fast! The kids were great and so cute together. And (of course) Alyssa and her sister were beautiful!

Happy Birthday Sophia!!!

I am so happy that I got to celebrate Sophia's first birthday...and with that always means that I am the first to give her a lollipop just to make her happy :) I love it...and let me tell you, she loved it too!

It was a steamy day, but Sophia was great! She was a little explorer crawling around, checking out her surroundings and being little miss independent. What a cutie! Lots of outfits, lots of smiles, and so much fun! It was a great chance for me to capture some of those special moments between Sophia and her mom as well!

I am always used to having to reschedule for our random rainy days in the summer, but this was the hottest day of the summer and Logan was a trooper! We did not reschedule, but sure worked fast! I barely saw him sweat...me on the other hand, HOLY COW! HOT HOT HOT! Luckily for the two of us, his mom came prepared to his senior photo session with a cooler of cold waters for us. I was very thankful! So thank you, thank you, thank you, Zimmerman family for the great smiles and charming smirks :) and the ice cold water!

Batavia Photographer: Ready to leave the nest!

If you are a parent, we all know that time just seems to fly. One minute you have a baby and it seems the next minute you are dropping your child off for college! I am sure this is how Robin and Pete feel! For the Theis family, this was the perfect time to get their family portraits taken. One daughter is ready to head off to college and begin the next chapter in her life. So while she is away the family dynamic is destined to change a bit...but having some great photographs of everyone together is a great way to preserve this time that everyone is at home.

So, thank goodness the rain stopped for a bit so we had a chance to get some photographs taken...phew! The day ended up great and it was a pleasure to work with all of you! So thank you so much Robin & Pete for giving me the chance to photograph all of you together.

St. Charles Wedding Photographer: A Vintage Garden Wedding

If I could, I would try and post a ton more of the photographs I took at Cassandra and Joe's wedding...but alas my blog is meant to be short and sweet :)

This was the most gorgeous wedding! I was thrilled when Cassandra first met with me last year and told me all about her ideas...and the reception was to be at Hotel Baker, where I got married, so it made it even sweeter. She had collected vintage buttons, wedding photographs, glass doorknobs, candy...and pretty much anything that would give an eclectic feel to the decoration of the reception. So it made for such a unique wedding!

The celebration was intimate, only 22 of their closest family and friends, and the day was truly focused on their love.

I had a blast just photographing all the little details and especial the gorgeous flowers that were done by The Elegant Petal in St. Charles. Casey incorporated all of the collected vintage buttons into the all the flower arrangements and bouquets!

So Congratulations Joe and Cassandra...and I cannot wait to show you all of your photographs!

These blonde beauties that make up the Krueger clan...you just can't beat 'em! They are some of the best females I have photographed, they sure make a photographer's job easy :)

I have photographed someone in their family every year for 3 years...awesome! That gets me excited! It is great getting so many opportunities to work with the same family over and over again. I am so thankful they keep on coming back!

Geneva Photographer: 1st birthday silliness

I just loved meeting this family. Even when I first met Whitney at our consultation to talk about our photo shoot, I knew we would have a blast working together!

I have had a smile on my face all morning while I have gone through all of the photographs that I took of their beautiful family. Beautiful blue eyes, big smiles, and a birthday tutu...what more can you ask for?! Actually, you could ask for a hand made teddy bear from France! Ha! That is exactly what they brought. This bear was purchased while Whitney and Michael travelled through Europe with the hopeful thoughts of their first baby in mind...so sweet! And I love the photos I got of Ellery playing with her bear :)

Nothing can compete with all of the emotions that arise with the birth of a new baby. The unknown...its a wild thing! So I always find it interesting as to what awaits me when I show up to photograph a newborn. Usually it is a tired mom and dad, but many times it is a lot of nerves and uncertainty...and always a lot of love. Sweet little Quinn is blessed to have a mom & dad that seem to have taken on the role of new parent's beautifully! They were so relaxed and I could tell so in love with this new little girl in their life.

So thank you so much Kyle & Jim for choosing me to photograph your beautiful new baby girl! Congratulations!

Geneva Photographer: Pets on Parade at Swedish Days!

If you are a dog lover, then this event is for you! The Geneva Chamber of Commerce host Pets On Parade every year during the week of Swedish Days. It is a wonderful family event and a great way to show off your favorite pets!

This year I was asked to be the photographer at the event and it was so great to see some hilarious dogs all dressed up in some very creative costumes. While humans are my forte, I find it hard to resist a cute pooch!

So while Swedish Days had a rough start with the weather, the sunshine came out for this event and it was great!

I always laugh when I am asked to photograph cousins...especially when they are all so close in age! It is always a wild ride!

This family has such a great Grandma that she hired me to photograph her grandchildren...and she organized everything, even their outfits!

Those are some ages that I know are going to keep me busy...and they did! It was a great morning and for all the hundreds of photographs I took, we definitely got some keepers! We also got a whole bunch of poking, wrestling, giggling, and tongue-sticking-out photos as well :)

Wheaton Photographer: 6 Months old already!

It is really a wonderful feeling to show up to a photo session with the feeling that you are really working with friends! That is how I feel about this family! I have been lucky enough to photograph their first child from birth and through each of those milestones...and now already Baby #2 is already at his 6 month point. WOW! Time flies :) I sure am glad I got to be there to capture some great photographs and even better moments.

My favorite is Ally pointing up at the train that was flying by overhead while we were standing on the walking bridge beneath it. She was amazed...can you tell :)

St. Charles Photographer: Summer Weather and Birthday Celebrations!

I was so happy to get to work with this family again! I photographed Anne for her senior portraits just a month ago, and Sandy decided that this would be a perfect gift to herself for her birthday! I couldn't agree more!

It is amazing how quick time flies by and family portraits are the best way to freeze those moments and remember each other at certain points in life! I feel like when kids get into high school they are so busy and family portraits just never seem to happen, so photographing this family was the perfect time! Both kids ready to head off to college, Sandy and Frank ready to have a quieter house...whether they like it or not :) So now at least they will have some fabulous photographs of their family together while they go through the school year apart.

So thanks so much for the opportunity to work with you again, Sandy...and Happy Birthday!

Geneva Photographer: Time for family portraits!

I can't tell you how many times I hear from clients in that guilty tone "It's been soooo long since we've had a family photo" or even better, "Last family photo we had taken our youngest isn't even in it!" It makes me smile. Time just seems to slip by so quickly and then when you have a spare moment you realize 4 years have gone by! I feel the same way about my family...and I am a photographer!!!

So this GORGEOUS family was feeling this way...time had flown by and they were ready to stop and capture some family moments while their youngest was still little! Their family was perfect! I am great with boys, since I have two of my own, so it was so fun photographing this little guy. He had me laughing with his ridiculous facial expressions. He was all fun and wildness, while his sisters were ready for some smiles and photographs :) So typical!

Geneva Photographer: 2 Seniors...steppin' out into the world!

Another Senior Portrait session in the Spring! So fun!

Usually most of my Senior Portrait sessions happen in the summer before their Senior year, but this year it has been a blast getting to photograph these kids, who really aren't kids, so excited to start the next step in their life! Most of them know where they are going to college, what they want to do (at least right now) and it makes for such a fun portrait session to have that energy there!

What is even better is when their are two of them! Alyx and Amanda were so fun to work with and I love how they made each other laugh :)

Most photographers love the sleepy baby who is able to be posed into cute cuddly positions...and I am one of them! I must say though, this little man, was wide awake for almost the whole time I was there and it was so sweet. He was gazing up at his mom and dad and smiling away. Nothing is better than that :)

After this photo shoot with Anne, I called my husband and told him this was MY BEST SHOOT EVER! Seriously! Anne was so excited, had so much energy, was ready to have fun...and my gosh...she's GORGEOUS :)

It was a gloomy morning and right before Anne came into the studio, the sun came out and it ended up being such a beautiful April day. Phew! We were so lucky! Midwest spring weather was on our side...finally.

Geneva Photographer-The First of Many Babies for 2011

It is baby mania right now! I love it!!!!!!

In just this month I have been busy as can be photographing the sweetest little babies. It makes for a very busy winter (yee ha!). Lots more to come this week...but here was my first of 2011...

Chicago Wedding Photographer: Destination Mexico

So this may be the most photographs that I have ever put on a blog...but I couldn't choose! How can you go wrong photographing in such a beautiful place.

I have so many things to say about this wedding...so here it goes!

I met Steve my freshman year of college the first day I moved in. He was making his rounds knocking on everyone's doors to introduce himself. We have been good friends ever since :) Ironically, my husband also met Steve around the same time...and of course they also became friends. Over the years our friendships have continued and grown through twists and turns and highs and lows within all of our lives. And then one day (I think at a Wilco show?) Steve introduced us to Krissy. We were so excited for Steve! Krissy is beautful, has great music taste (very important in our lives), and was genuinely nice. So now Steve was on a new path and we loved how happy he was.

When Steve got engaged to Krissy, Mike and I were thrilled. I had called it! Steve is the kindest, most thoughtful, and hilarious guy we know and we knew that Krissy was the perfect woman for him. I was so glad that they had found each other and were ready to have a life together filled with love and happiness.

So onto the wedding...MEXICO!

When we found out that this wedding was a destination wedding I think we booked our flight that day (not really, but you know what I mean). We would not have missed this wedding for anything. Then when Steve & Krissy decided to have me photograph the big day I was even more excited. Beautiful bride, warm sandy beaches...a photographer's delight!

So after a few bumps on our path to Mexico, the festivities began. I must admit that I do get teary-eyed at every wedding I photograph. I can't help it! And I probably get some blurry photographs from it, but I am a sucker for romance! The vows that Steve & Krissy shared were beautiful and straight from their hearts. It was such an honor to be able to photograph them and the moments that they shared becoming husband and wife.

So...

Congratulations Steve & Krissy!

I couldn't be happier for you! You are both incredible and are blessed to have each other.

So my New Year's Resolution was going to be to blog more...ha! Hear I am 3 weeks already into the new year and I just finally started a new blog. But at least I am here :) And I am going to try and be here as much as I can.

So my first blog in a while and I am so excited to say HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY to my girl, Scarlett! What a cutie! What a fun photo session this was. The parent's were so sweet and you can just tell from the photos how in love they are with their little girl. Their house was filled with photographs documenting their marriage, their love, and their new found love of their baby girl and the family they have built...and I felt so honored that they chose me to photograph this amazing 1 year milestone!

So where did Christmas go?! It was whirlwind and has seemed to just fly by! Luckily I photographed this family and these photographs have such a pretty Christmas feel that they can last them all year long :)

These shots just crack me up! 3 kids under the age of 3 each with their own independence and plan with how our photo shoot would go. Here we go...

This little man was a little lover :) So sweet and just happy to be surrounded by his cousins. I gave him his first lollipop, so I am forever a part of his life! He he.

This little doll is a diva through and through. It was awesome. She held the power card all day and we just rolled with it! This is by far my favorite photograph. If you were hoping for an angelic pose with no underwear flashing, you came to the wrong place :) And how cute is this dress?! Grandma made it!

And this guy...we could have talked about super heroes all day long. He is obsessed, and luckily they hired the perfect photographer. I have a vast knowledge of all things super hero and we both share a love for Batman in particular!

So here are just a few of my other favorites...they all show what a wonderful relationship this family has! Cousins together laughing, playing, and being silly... what more could you ask for for the holidays!

Holy cow! I have been on holiday card overload and have pushed my lonely blog aside...but I AM BACK :) And back with a great family to show off!

Before the shoot I met with Margie to talk about what she envisioned for her family portrait and it was so nice to sit and chat with her about her family. She talked a lot about the historical documentation of a family portrait and being able to freeze time, so they can remember this time with their son. He is at the age that is still so boyish, yet so close to being a young man...and that time just goes by too fast!

So I was so excited to spend the morning with them and get some beautiful photographs capturing their smiles, laughter, and smirks :)

Naperville Photographer: Oh How Far We've Come!

My dear, dear friend Cathy...ahhhh, the stories we have to tell about each other from our glory days in college. And now...I am taking photographs of her beautiful family :) It is incredible how friendships grow and change into something even better.

I have been lucky enough to photograph Cathy and Trevor's beautiful daughters since they were babies. And I am always amazed at how big they keep getting...and prettier every time I see them. So for our photo shoot we started outside...and boy was it chilly! The girls always take a little while to warm up to my camera, so we ended at home and had a blast playing in their rooms, jumping on the bed and having some girl time! I love the shots of the girls together giggling. So cute!

So thanks Cathy and Trevor for choosing me to photograph your family, it means the world to me :)

Geneva Photographer: A Boy and His Dog

Oh how spoiled we were with this fall!!! I can't say enough how lucky I have felt to get in so many incredible photo sessions with such great families...in WARM weather! It was fabulous!

Now this photo session was a fun one! From the look of these photographs you would have never guessed that Rex, the dog, was not the easiest of models :) But really, what puppy is? I was so happy that he was able to sit still long enough to get a couple of great photographs of Michael with his dog! Phew!

I love photographing kids at this age...the missing teeth are the best! It truly captures their childhood and goofiness!

Geneva Photographer: South comes North!

So my favorite thing about the Pyle family is Melinda's sweet Southern accent. I love it!

Transplants from Arkansas, The Pyles and I thought we would take advantage of those gorgeous last fall days we just had here (I still have my fingers crossed that we may get spoiled with a few more..PLEASE!). So while it may have been cold weather for them, it was warm as can be for me :)

Their kids were awesome. Mom and Dad possibly (wink wink) thought they had too much energy, but it was right up my alley! My own kids have energy, so I felt right at home trying to get some great photographs amidst the poking, pinching, giggling, and joke telling!

So thanks so much Pyles and I am so glad I got to spend that last gorgeous fall day with you!

Geneva Photographer: Newborn Lucas

Welcome Baby Lucas!

Isn't he so cute :)

It was a pleasure to photograph this wonderful family, and Lucas was wide awake and ready! Luckily, I had all the time in the world and was willing to wait for this little man to doze off.

After having 2 boys of my own (who never slept...wait, they still don't!) I was ready for the challenge Lucas was ready to give. We all took turns rocking him, soothing him...he was one lucky baby! While I am sure his mom and dad did not feel as lucky, he was great...and honestly no different then any other baby who is expected to perform for me :) All that matters is the final photographs, right!?

So, Lucas, thank you for the challenge, I loved it! Now make sure you go to sleep for your mom and dad! They need it!

Congrats again Stef and Stuart, your little boy is so handsome!

West Chicago Photographer: Visit From Grandma & Grandma

Charlotte is one lucky little girl!

Surrounded by so much love :)

She got to have a photo session with her grandparent's while they were in town visiting from the UK. It was so wonderful to see all of them interacting and playing! And of course Grandma and Grandpa were loving every minute of the time they had with her.

It is sessions like this that really make me appreciate my job! I get to know families and it is so much more than just "work". I got to photograph Charlotte at 3 months, and then again this time at 6 months, and I will get to celebrate with her at her 1 year birthday! It is amazing to see these little babies grow up, and I am lucky that I get to be the one to capture all those milestones!

So see you at your 1st birthday, Charlotte!

St. Charles Photographer: Happy Anniversary!

What a way to spend your anniversary...getting the whole family dressed to go out to a windy field to get photographed :) Ha! Actually, it was a great idea!

This was my 2nd time photographing this family this month. I got to photograph the twins for their first birthday and then we decided to photograph the WHOLE family a couple weeks later.

4 kids playing in a field, being themselves, and having fun! What more could you ask to celebrate your marriage and the family you created? Awesome!

Can you tell it was a little windy? In one shot you can...take a guess which one :)

So Heidi, thanks (again) for a wonderful chance to photograph your family. And I hope you enjoy the photograph of the boys in the tree. It made me laugh so hard while editing it, I had to add it to the blog! Craig was a genius for putting them up there, and their faces are priceless!

St. CHarles Photographer: Introducing Baby Clara!

I love baby names that I don't hear very often! And Clara, is one of those names! I also love that this baby is just like my kids...pushed nearly 10 lbs. when she was born. So this baby is so sweet and chubby and adorable :)

I also love to see new parent's interacting with their first born. It grabs at my heart to see a Dad taking charge and changing diapers, helping Mom out, and just being really involved. I love it. And Wes is this kind of new Dad...a natural!

Maggie was so sweet to work with and I was so excited to get the chance to photograph her for her Senior portraits!

The leaves had just started changing, the sun was warm and yellow, and her beautiful red hair was glowing in the warm light. I think all of her photographs turned out great and really showed off her personality-little bit of sass, but a whole lot simplicity, which I love!

St. Charles Photographer: From St. John to St. Charles

This is a couple that is in LOVE :) and every photograph I took shows it!

Their wedding festivities began in St. John where they tied the knot and then continued once they got back home where they could celebrate with all of their family and friends. This is how wedding receptions should happen! They were well rested and relaxed after their getaway, so they really got to enjoy their reception, stress-free!

All the little details were so cute...very beachy theme (cocktail umbrella table cards!) and a very laid back wedding. It was great! Lots of great food, dancing, and many special moments celebrating their future together.

I was thrilled when some new cool businesses started opening up in the strip near my studio! I was even more THRILLED when Prana Yoga opened up! I got to know Lisa, the fabulous (and gorgeous) owner when I was in need of some good yoga, and came to find out she was in need of some family photos...a match made in heaven :)

Too bad for her cute boys (young men, actually), we picked 8 am on a morning that they were off of school! So you can only imagine that I was not their favorite person that brisk morning. But I think I won them over and got some great shots of the whole family!

But seriously...if you haven't been by Prana yet, their schedule of classes is fantastic and they truly have something for everyone...so head on over and say hi to Lisa!

Barrington Photographer: My Girl, Stella!

So it has been a year since I last photographed the sweet and adorable, Stella. If you have been to my studio you would recognize her immediately. I have a huge photograph of her right when you walk in hanging on the wall. She was only 6 months old and sitting in her nursery with her big baby belly showing and big beautiful eyes sparkling. Well, she still looks the same, minus the baby belly. She is a big girl now and on the move, so those days of chubbiness are all gone!

This shoot with the family was so great. Getting to see how much joy she has brought to her family and all the love that everyone has for her, she is the first and only grand-baby so she gets lots and lots of love!

So much fun to get to photograph another couple that met at U of I and holds strong their love for ORANGE :)

For those of you who do not cheer for the Illini, keep it to yourself. But for me...great times, good memories, and a family was started all down in good old Champaign-Urbana, so I couldn't wait to celebrate with Bob & Missy!

A September wedding in the future, and lots of planning before then. So hopefully they can take some much needed breaks, watch the Illini win (?), and sit back and enjoy each other before the big day!

And even more exciting for me, I get to GO to the wedding and not even photograph it! I have known Bob since he was a boy (like for 16 years? Oh my...) so I couldn't be more happy for him that he has found such happiness with Missy!

Naperville Photographer: And Baby Makes 4

So many of us have been through the phase of getting married, getting your first dog, and being a happy family of 3! Your dog is your baby and your life is complete :)

I remember the days of asking my parent's to babysit my dog because I didn't want him to get lonely, or taking him everywhere with me, and dressing him up for Halloween!

Then things change. Your family of 3 becomes a family of 4 once you have your first human baby.

MY DOG WAS MAD!!!!!!

So The Well's family has gone through the same thing, but lucky for them their dog did not turn into Kujo! He is happy as can be around the new baby...though I am sure he will change his mind once Harrison tries to ride him like a pony :)

So here is my super cute family of 4 sneak peek! We enjoyed a great morning together just as the leaves are starting to change! And now they are complete with a handsome dog and an ADORABLE baby boy (ummm....check out his faux-hawk. Love it!).

Okay...so I have been friend's with Burrough's for years and I was so excited to get to photograph them! When Jill and I met to talk about location, wardrobe, etc. I never realized how great of a job she would do!!!! I may have to hire her on as a stylist :) How awesome would that be! I think there are many mom's out there who would love someone to take charge of their whole "look" for the shoot and do the shopping!

So the Burrough's family showed up looking great. Coordinated, yet not matchy...perfect for a portrait!

And did I mention that their oldest son wants to be an actor...if you look at each of his poses and facial expressions you will see what I mean. AWESOME! He rocked it :)

Anyway, it was a great shoot for a great family!

Oh my.

Sometimes you are just so lucky to get to photograph a family that is just so beautiful that it is just so easy. That is this family. Gorgeous. Each and every one of them :)

Oak Park Photographer: The 4 Generations of Schemper Ladies

I have always felt very blessed to have had grandparents who have lived long and healthy lives! When my children were born I also felt that it was so important to document those times they got to spend with not only their grandparent's but their great-grandparents! I have vivid memories of times spent with my two great-grandmothers who lived way into their 90s.

So when Erica contacted me with her idea of photographing 4 generations of her family together, I loved it! It was so wonderful to be able to photograph these four women together interacting with nearly 80 years age difference between Great Grandma and the adorable granddaughter, Zora.

West Chicago Photographer: A Day For Playing

Whoooooooeeee! These kids were ready to play!

We had a blast running around, throwing stones into the river, tackling, running, wrestling...you name it. This brother and sister were ready to get moving!

And are you kidding me how cute they are?!

I wish they made her dress for adults. So sassy and chic with her boots and hat.

My sons would love his belt as well, skull and crossbones...argh :)

So. Twins. Whoa.

Add to the fact that they are one and ready to explore everything. Double whoa :)

These little girls are adorable. Honestly, they never ever stopped moving!

Their amazing mom, Heidi, brought her sister also to the photo session just to help chase them round. It was awesome!

It was raining so we couldn't go outside, so we went to plan B, The Studio. They did not want to sit. Did not want to stand. They just wanted to crawl!

Their Mom and Aunt chased, while I ran around after them with my camera.

Then before we knew it we were all tired and ready for a nap!

Geneva Photographer: Oh My Toe Head!

This little man has GOT to be the blondest boy I have ever seen...and oh is he cute!

He is a boy all the way...loves his red wagon and loves his John Deer tractor (and yes, he says it is his "John Deer" tractor). This barn is near a pretty busy road and every time we heard a truck go by he would wrench his neck to see what kind...and he knew exactly which truck was which.

We had such a great time letting him be a typical 2 year old, he was ready to explore and trying hard to let me take some photographs just so he can get a treat at the end :)

In the midst of school starting for my children and my youngest getting ill, I am a little behind on my blogging :) Sorry, Betty!!!!

But I had to post some of the shots I got of the 1 year old triplets that I photographed! Betty, the proud Grandma, was so excited to be celebrating their birthday at her house and wanted me there to capture all their energy...and boy did they have energy.

Each child had his/her own personality and was on a mission to move, crawl, climb, and EAT anything they could get their hands on. It was GREAT!

Huntley Photographer: Celebrating 50 Years of Marriage!

Whenever I get a call to photograph a large extended family portrait I always get a little nervous...the number of people, lots of kids, lots of clothing patterns! So when Pam called to hire me to photograph her whole family in celebration of her parent's 50 wedding anniversary I never would have expected to have the experience I had!

All the siblings came in to celebrate with Al and Carol (the parents)...that meant traveling in from 3 different states to Illinois, organizing 8 grand children (not to mention the 10 adults!), and coming up with an idea of where to photograph. Well let me tell yah, Pam was on the ball! She was so organized, had great shot ideas, and was a pleasure to work with.

While it was nearly impossible to pick which shots I would post on the blog, hopefully I covered all my bases-youngest grandchild, only female grandchild, all the grandchildren, and then a random mix of family!

On a more sentimental note, I would just like to add that I was really touched to see the relationship that Al & Carol have. 50 years of marriage has done them well! They have a beautiful family, a loving relationship, and a beautiful home all to show for it. I could only hope to be so lucky!

I love this shot! The two youngest grandchildren heading out on a walk in the fields with Grandpa...walking canes in hand.

St. Charles Photographer: Well, Hello Finnian!

So I have lots to say about this beautiful family.

I have known this new dad since he was a baby...actually I vividly remember the first time I met him...I was in Kindergarten going over to play with his sister and his mom answered the door holding him, and he was in a diaper :)

His sister is my best friend in the world and his whole family has been a second family to me. So I think of David as my little brother.

Nothing made me happier than to be able to see him with his new son and beautiful wife! I was so lucky to be able to able to photograph Finnian when he was just 6 days old.

So thank you David and Johanna for this wonderful opportunity and I hope you love these photographs of him! I know I do...and so will Aunt Laura :)

Who didn't love that show!? Does anyone even remember that show?

Anyway...

This family was so hilarious. The Stanfa's...there's a lot of 'em and every single one is so darn cute. You may recognize some of their smiling faces if you ever head into Graham's in Geneva (ummm...which I do too much) for yummy ice cream and other goodies.

They were such troopers to come on out, coordinate their outfits, and to pose for me. We had a great time and it was a breeze to photograph them.

I just love when I meet a family with a baby and I get to photograph them for a whole year!!!! This family was so sweet and madly in love with their baby girl...and who wouldn't be! This little doll was all smiles this morning. And then fell asleep just in time to get some gorgeous shots of her snoozin' in the park :)

Can't wait to see her at 6 months!!!

The Gorgeous Spring Family!

I have been so lucky to have photographed them when Sara was pregnant, then when Charlie Rose was born and then now here we are...6 months later!

How time flies!

So here are some great shots form the shoot we had at St. Charles Country Club. A family that golfs together, stays together, right!? :)

I can't tell you how fun it was for all of us to be riding around this gorgeous course in our golf carts stopping here and there to photograph. Even better is that I didn't have to golf and still got to drive a cart! Ha!

Seriously...could this family be any cuter!?

Geneva Photographer: Love Love Love

So I seem to be on a roll lately capturing unique marriages! Add another set of newlyweds to my list that truly "WOW'd" me with their relationship. While I love a big wedding with all the details and extravagance, I also just love when 2 people make it a day just about them and no one else with minimal fluff :) Nothing better than being with the one you love, at a beautiful place sipping champagne to celebrate your new life together!

So Bill and Gracie made a quick stop to the Geneva Courthouse and asked me to photograph them...and the day was perfect!

Gorgeous sunny day and the beautiful Herrington Inn as our backdrop.
